The Orb River is the origin of Valras harbor, as it was first a fishing place. Fishermen came here to work and had to build their house for the summer season. Starting in the XIXth century, a community of fisherman decided to live here and elected the Hippocampus as village’s emblem. Like Biarritz, Nice or Deauville, Valras is still a fishing village, with its charming traditional boardwalk facing the beaches and the sea, the quarter of old villas and its casino.
